About the Author

Michael Blue has been the pastor of The Door of Hope Christian Church since 1992. He also serves as the presiding prelate of the Christian Covenant Fellowship of Ministries. He is the recipient of several ecclesiastical and community service honors, and was awarded the distinction of Doctor of Humanities by Francis Marion University, his alma mater, in 2010. Bishop Blue is a disciple, husband, father, psalmist, and student of the Word.

Great instructional book

Building Credibility in Leadership is a great book for leaders in the secular and spiritual arenas. The information given provides great guidance to leaders of all ages and types. The development of leaders is one of the most important vehicles to ensure the continuation of an organization. It is a task that takes knowledge, skill and wisdom. This book offers it all!

Reading this book has assisted me in my personal and professional life as a Christian who operates in primary and secondary leadership roles as a minister, counselor, mentor and entrepreneur. Whether is in the walls of the sanctuary or the walls of the conference room, the wisdom, shared by Bishop Michael A. Blue Sr., can activate change in your scope and performance as a leader.

I purchased the e-version of BCIL because of its convenience. I am THOROUGHLY pleased with the product's content. Bishop Michael Blue is a prolific author and shares incredible insights in Leadership. The tools provided in the manuscript can be applied in several arenas such as churches, corporations, municipalities, social clubs and education. I encourage everyone to get a copy and allow the content to positively affect their lives.

About the Author

Mark J. Price

Mark J. Price is a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) and Microsoft Specialist, Programming in C# and Architecting Microsoft Azure Solutions, with more than 20 years of educational and programming experience. Since 1993, Mark has passed more than 90 Microsoft programming exams and specializes in preparing others to pass them too. His students range from professionals with decades of experience to 16-year-old apprentices with no experience at all. He successfully guides all of them by combining educational skills with real-world experience, consulting on and developing systems for enterprises worldwide. Between 2001 and 2003, Mark was employed full-time to write official courseware for Microsoft in Redmond, USA. His team wrote the first training courses for C# and .NET while they were still an early alpha version. While with Microsoft, he delivered "train-the-trainer" classes to get other MCTs up to speed in C# and .NET. In 2010, Mark took a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE). He taught GCSE and A-level mathematics in two secondary schools in London. Mark holds a Computer Science BSc (Hons) degree from the University of Bristol, UK.

A Good "First Look" at .NET Core 1.0

I can't give this book 5 stars due to some minor issues. For example, some of the Visual Studio screen shots are not accurate because as Microsoft updated .NET Core 1.0 RC2, they also pushed updates for Visual Studio. This is minor and for the most part the author did a good job of annotating where code was going to change by the time .NET Core reaches RTM next month. This book didn't attempt to go nearly as deep as the Wrox publication on C# 6 and .NET Core 1.0 but that's a good thing because .NET Core has been changing too fast. As a result, the Wrox book has far more errors in it.

This book also has some cool extras like a section on the .NET Portability Analyzer (Visual Studio extension) and managing source code on GitHub. Grab this book now and hold off on buying the in-depth 1500 page reference until well after .NET Core has been officially released.

An outstanding book for learning C#, without trying to be a complete guide to every small detail as so many other programming books out there, as Mark writes in the intro:
"There are many C# books, some, more than a thousand pages long, that aim to be comprehensive references to the C# programming language and the .NET Framework. This book is different. [...] I will point out the cool corners and gotchas of C# so you can impress colleagues and employers and quickly get productive. Rather than slowing down and boring some of you by explaining every little thing, I assume that if a term I use is new to you, then you know how to Google it..."
This approach, and mindset, makes the book a much better read, without compromising the essential parts of C# that you need to learn.

The book starts from the very beginning, and will allow people with very little programming experience to pick up this book and just follow it step by step to learn C# 6. While at the same time enabling experienced C# programmers to read over the basic parts fast only stopping to get the "What's new in C# 6 and .NET Core 1.0"-parts. And enabling a relatively fast read for catching up on the direction .NET is going.

The structure, examples and small anecdotes in the book represents the fact that Mark is an excellent teacher as well as author. Having had Mark as instructor on a C# course, i can say this book represents a vast knowledge of C# and how to teach it.

I read this type of book for the facts, not to be entertained with war stories. This book is all stories that adds up to less than a page of facts. Read the preview, that is what the whole book is like.

My Rating is One Star Too Many

This book is a waste. I got a library edition thank God! Why did the publisher let the author write it as a story with infinite quotes. Probably because if it were written in the traditional way it could be reduced to < 50 pages. If you want to part with your money give it to your local library. It would serve a better purpose. By all means do not purchase the book and then donate it to the library. Libraries already have enough worthless books.

I found this book to be interesting an easy read, but I learned very little. Like everyone else has stated its nothing more than her personal stories. If you want to learn about brokering notes then your out of luck. It's about being a note buyer and forking out money to attorneys, appraisers, title companies. There's not even much insight on this either.

Not exactly sure who to blame for this fiasco, but I rented the kindle version of this book and have assignments to complete prior to class. I used the exact ISBN number given and rented. Yet, this version comes with no access to online tests. Okay, fine, I'll purchase separately which I have no problem with. Amazon doesn't offer the access code for the online content for this text at all. If the publisher is bundling an access code that isn't available with the amazon purchase that should be made clear.

As far as content, it's fine, although using the search function on the kindle to find something within the text yields not great results most of the time. Since that is a major function I enjoy using with digital editions, it is frustrating and it seems to be specific to this text, as I use it with other texts on kindle and get better results.

This book has a lot of GREAT information. It was definitely resourceful. The only thing wrong with it is that there is almost too much info in there for my program, which isn't a bad thing! Needless to say, I was well prepared for my final bedside assessment!
